Eternally
young Mae West jumped on the Rock ‘n’ Roll bandwagon in the
mid-60’s and recorded this album of hits of the day including “Treat
Him Right”, “Day Tripper”, “Boom Boom”,
"When A Man Loves A Woman" (whoa baby) and one original (and
possibly the best) track “Mae Day”. It teeters on the fence
between embarrassing and camp. We can't figure out why this nugget of
high camp history hasn't been re-issued legitimately. It may not be very
good but it certainly has loads of curiosity value. Sun restored the original
cover and chose images of Mae from her more modern periods for the rest
of the designs. The label, in particular is a doozie! Again, since this
is a personal portfolio piece the information is limited. See more details
in the Sort Of Records catalog. |
