The
original cover featured an early forties shot of Ella Mae and Sun used
that for the background of the inside cover opting for a more appropriate
fifties-ish - and sensational - shot for the cover and the label. Though
all but one song are mid and uptempo the cover photo captures the smoky
elegance of Ms. Morse's vocals particularly evident in the title ballad,
"Sensational". 1940's Swing Diva Ella Mae Morse continued to
record for Capitol well into the 1950s. Though this material was included
in a CD boxed set (now out of print), this album of wonderful 50's Ella
Mae selections was transferred from a French reissue released on vinyl
in 1985. |
