Before
Sun came up with the name Nacha Chip many names were considered including
Maria Miranda in homage to Carmen Miranda and Maria Montez, the main inspirations
for the character. Other inspirations for Nacha were Lucy Ricardo at her
"I'm going to be in Ricky's show" best and Bugs Bunny in drag.
In a show at Irving Plaza where Sun had tended bar for many years, this
hat was worn by the lead singer of The Red Hot Chili Peppers (without
the decorations) shortly before they became huge. He left it behind in
the dressing room and when it was found by one of the bouncers it was
given to Sun who, it was deemed would get the most use out of it! |
