The
Pyramid had an irregular feature called Lip Synch Theater. A few of the
queens would write a script, the queens who were in the cast would come
in and read the lines onto tape and later, on stage they would move their
mouths when they heard their voice. The effect was uproarious. Matron
VanDyke was the head nurse in "play" that was inspired by old
pulp paperbacks about a nurse called "Sue
Barton, My Story". Along with his fascination for Sylvia Miles,
Joan Kennedy and Farrah (among others) Sun also loved impersonating lesbians
which was fully taken advantage of when cast as Matron Van Dyke. |
